Hermes Baby Typewriter

The Hermes Baby was one of the world’s most popular small typewriters. It was first produced in Switzerland in 1935 and sold more than 4.5 million copies (16) until the 1980s (the exact end of production is still to be determined). In essence, it has undergone few mechanical changes. It was used by famous writers and poets like Friederike Mayrcker. It was also loved by journalists and diplomats because it could be easily transported. In the English-speaking world it is known as “Hermes Featherweight” and “Hermes Rocket”, as well as “Baby Empire” and “Empire Aristocrat”.
