His Master’s Voice Model 102d Portable Gramophone
The HMV 102 is dubbed as His Master’s Voice’s longest lived and most successful portable gramophone which was introduced in 1931. Marketed by HMV as the ‘World’s finest portable’ was manufactured and sold till 1960. This colonial model was manufactured in Calcutta, British India for upper-class Indians and British officers, has a longer internal horn with a wider swan neck tone arm, and is made in teak— which makes it a rare find, because most of gramophones produced by HMV were made in leather.
