Granma is one of the most widely circulated newspapers in Cuba, belonging to Cuban Communist party’s Central Committee. Several weekly international editions are printed in various languages linke- English, Spanish, French, German, Italian etc. It was formed in 1965 with the merger of two previous papers, its name coming from the yatch Granma, that carried about 80 rebels to the shores of Cuba, in 1956, launching the Cuban revolution.

A Year of the 20th anniversary of the publication, Granma weekly publication covers the agreements between USSR and Cuba and captures the warmth in the relationship of two socialist countries, including acknowledging the economic relationship as well, described as a relationship between an ‘industrialised and an underdeveloped and poor country’.
